LJHA held their Staff Away Day on 10th January at Weetwood Hall in Leeds. All 25 members of staff attended the day including operatives, support workers and office staff.
The purpose of the day was to further develop team working and embed our vision so that we can continue to deliver a premium service to our tenants. The day enabled staff to work with colleagues they normally do not work with and for many, to discuss areas of the association that they would not normally be involved in as part of their role.
LJHA has had a number of new staff and it was seen as the perfect opportunity for them to get to know their new colleagues and the ethos of the organisation.
Through the course of the day, staff members identified the main areas of development. These are; the need for interdepartmental cohesion and improved communication between staff and tenants. The key outcome of the day was communication, both communicating to each other and with residents.
In order to ensure actions are taken forward we will now be establishing a staff forum which will be a consultative group looking at internal and external communication, employment practices, organisational growth and tenant services at LJHA.
What came across throughout the day was the passion and commitment by all staff. An overriding comment throughout the day was that LJHA was more than just a job and for many staff, the ability to make a difference each and every day was the reason they applied to LJHA and the reason they continue to work for LJHA.
Staff expressed their willingness and excitement to continue to work as one team for the benefit of the residents. They explained that by working collectively, this could improve services for residents.
